Can Tho Police warn of delivery personnel impersonation scams
Police in Can Tho have issued a warning regarding a sophisticated new cyber fraud tactic involving impersonation of delivery personnel. Scammers call victims claiming to be shippers delivering an order.
After the victim pays for the order, the scammer claims the payment was mistakenly sent to a shipper registration account or an online delivery service. They then warn that failure to cancel this registration could result in legal risks or financial obligations. To increase credibility, scammers direct victims to a fraudulent "post office hotline" or "delivery support center." Once in contact, another scammer posing as a postal worker requests personal information, bank details, or additional transfers to "verify accounts" or "fix transaction errors."
Authorities emphasize that legitimate postal and delivery services never request money to cancel accounts or fix system errors. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and protect their personal information to prevent asset theft.
