Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy partners with Hau Giang hospitals

Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy has signed a cooperation agreement with Hau Giang General Hospital and Hau Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital to facilitate clinical practice for its students.

Starting in the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year, 2,014 medical students from cohorts 47, 48, and 49 will undergo practical training at these facilities. Students will study internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and traditional medicine at Hau Giang General Hospital, while obstetrics and pediatrics training will take place at the Hau Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

According to Associate Professor Nguyen Minh Phuong, Rector of the university, this initiative aims to improve training quality by allowing students to convert theoretical knowledge into practical skills and gain exposure to real-world disease models and medical procedures. The hospitals have been deemed to meet the necessary standards regarding facilities and professional medical staff to guide the students.
