Canada and France Detail National Hockey Preparations for Upcoming Seasons
Hockey Canada unveiled a 32‑player roster for the summer Showcase of the 2027 World Junior Championship, to be held 26 July‑1 August at Windsor’s WFCU Centre. The squad features top prospects such as defensemen Carson Carels (Calgary Flames) and Keaton Verhoeff (San Jose Sharks), along with first‑round draft picks Caleb Malhotra, Tynan Lawrence, Ethan Belchetz, Daxon Rudolph and Ryan Lin, and promising junior Dimian Zhilkin.
Separately, the French national program outlined its inter‑season routine. Players receive a 15‑20‑day break after the World Championship, resume physical training in early June, and combine club‑based or individual sessions before returning to the ice. Performance coordinator Kevin Mahot emphasised recovery of physical, physiological and psychological assets, while players like Hugo Gallet and Quentin Papillon highlighted the need to “cut” from the season and engage in other sports for mental refreshment.
