Canada and Germany fund LawZero with up to $300M for AI development
Canada and Germany have announced a joint funding commitment of up to CAD $300 million for LawZero to develop advanced, safe artificial intelligence. The investment aims to support the development of ‘Scientist AI’, a technical approach designed to prioritize reliability, transparency, and evidence-based reasoning over autonomous goal-seeking.
The funding will facilitate the expansion of LawZero’s international research team and the acquisition of computing infrastructure. As part of this growth, the company plans to establish a new office in Berlin, Germany. Additionally, LawZero will develop a dedicated sovereign compute infrastructure in Canada through partnerships with Hypertec and 5C to anchor critical AI capabilities within the country.
