Canada and Honduras sign agreement to modernize Puerto Cortés

The governments of Honduras and Canada have signed an international cooperation agreement to modernize the operations of Puerto Cortés, the largest port in Central America. Representing Honduras, Finance Minister Emilio Hernández Hércules signed the deal with the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC).

The agreement focuses on the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of a non-intrusive cargo inspection system. This technological upgrade aims to bring the port's inspection infrastructure up to international standards.

In a separate meeting, Canadian Chargé d'Affaires Ioanna Sahas Martin met with Minister Hernández Hércules to discuss broader economic ties. The discussions explored expanding cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and security, building upon existing free trade agreements between the two nations.
