Canada and Poland sign defence cooperation agreement at MSPO

Canada and Poland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen bilateral defence cooperation during the MSPO 2026 International Defence Industry Exhibition. The agreement focuses on military interoperability, joint training, and cooperation between defence industries. A key component of this partnership involves Polish soldiers traveling to the Canadian Arctic for specialized training, leveraging Canada’s expertise in polar operations.

As the lead nation at this year’s MSPO, Canada has deployed a significant delegation of approximately 500 people representing over 200 organizations. Canadian officials, including Minister of National Defence David J. McGuinty and Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu, met with Polish counterparts to discuss strengthening the NATO eastern flank and supporting Ukraine. The mission aims to expand international market access for Canadian aerospace and advanced technology companies while building more resilient supply chains.
