Canada announces $2 million for heritage site conservation

The Canadian federal government has launched a call for proposals through Parks Canada’s National Cost-Sharing Program for Heritage Places. For the 2027-28 period, up to $2 million is available to support the protection of national historic sites, heritage lighthouses, and heritage railway stations.

The program offers to reimburse up to 50% of eligible costs for the conservation and presentation of heritage sites that are formally recognized but not administered by the federal government. The initiative aims to ensure these sites remain vibrant, supporting local tourism and job creation.

Priority will be given to projects that represent the diversity and complexity of Canadian history, highlight climate resilience, advance accessibility, and protect places of national historic significance.
