The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has deported 111 individuals since August 2025 as part of an initiative to combat extortion violence within South Asian communities. The agency has issued a total of 188 removal orders related to foreign nationals linked to extortion.

Regional breakdowns of the deportations include 58 cases in the Pacific region, 30 in the Prairies, and 23 in the Greater Toronto Area. The CBSA's operations, which began in Western Canada in August 2025, expanded to Ontario in November 2025. The agency investigates whether foreign nationals implicated in extortion have violated immigration or refugee laws, specifically targeting those with links to organized crime.

In Surrey, British Columbia, authorities reported 139 extortion incidents so far this year, involving 21 instances of shots fired and two arsons. While the CBSA did not specify the home countries of the deportees, Canadian authorities have previously identified the India-based Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a factor in local extortion crimes.
