Canada ETF assets reach record $730 billion

Canada's exchange-traded fund (ETF) industry reached a record asset size of $730.31 billion as of July 2026. The sector has seen 49 consecutive months of net inflows, with cumulative inflows reaching $109.26 billion this year. This represents a 25% growth since the end of 2025.

Market leadership remains concentrated among three major providers: RBC iShares, which holds a 27.5% market share with $200.87 billion in assets; BMO Asset Management with 18.7% ($136.91 billion); and Vanguard with 16.7% ($122.28 billion). Together, these three firms control 63% of the Canadian ETF market.

Recent market activity shows a trend toward specialized products. Evolve Funds launched the Evolve NASDAQ Technology UltraYield ETF (TECY), which utilizes a covered-call income strategy and modest leverage. Notably, Evolve reduced the management fee for TECY to 0% at the wrapper level to attract investors. In July, capital inflows were primarily driven by equity ETFs, which saw $7.43 billion in net inflows, followed by active ETFs with $6.88 billion.
