Canada expands nuclear education partnerships with U of Toronto and U of Saskatchewan

On July 30, 2026, the University of Toronto became the tenth institution to join Canadian Nuclear Laboratories' Academic Partnership Program. The programme, backed by the federal nuclear strategy, is designed to cultivate a skilled workforce for Canada's nuclear energy objectives and supports research in clean energy, health, environmental remediation and national security.

Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency signed a three‑year Practical Arrangements agreement with the University of Saskatchewan. The deal will strengthen nuclear knowledge management, provide training and research opportunities, and integrate IAEA resources into Canadian academic programmes, linking Canadian expertise with the agency's global education network.
