Canada to face Morocco in World Cup round of 16 in Houston

Canada’s men’s soccer team reached the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time, becoming the fifth CONCACAF nation to do so after Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico and the United States. The team will meet Morocco on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PT in Houston, Texas. The fixture coincides with the United States’ 250th Independence Day celebrations, with FIFA adding pre‑match festivities including the U.S. national anthem. Canada’s last World Cup meeting with Morocco was in the 2022 group stage, when Morocco won 2‑1. The match follows a Friday night of knockout results, including Argentina’s extra‑time win over France and Egypt’s penalty‑shootout victory over the United Arab Emirates. Canada aims to become the fifth CONCACAF side to reach the quarter‑finals.
