Canada funds major Quebec health‑care infrastructure projects
The Canadian government announced a $211 million contribution under the Build Communities Strong Fund to the Vaudreuil‑Soulanges Hospital project in Quebec’s western Montérégie region. The new 404‑bed general and specialty hospital will add emergency, surgical and outpatient services, addressing rapid population growth and increasing regional capacity.
In a separate announcement, federal ministers pledged $3.5 million for a new ambulatory centre for pneumology, oncology and thoracic surgery in Quebec. The centre will replace outdated facilities with modern, patient‑focused treatment rooms and a centralized oncology additive service, improving care for complex lung and thoracic cancer patients.
