Canada invites 1,000 candidates to apply for permanent residence

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 1,000 invitations to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system. The draw specifically targeted candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), a program designed for skilled workers with prior work experience in Canada.

To qualify for this round, candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 523. The draw was conducted on August 18, 2026, with a tie-breaking rule applying to profiles submitted by August 17, 2026, at 22:09:00 UTC. The CRS score is calculated based on various factors, including age, education, language proficiency, and work experience.

This latest round is part of a broader immigration strategy that emphasizes settling individuals who have already gained experience and education within Canada. Since the beginning of the year, Canada has conducted 48 rounds of permanent residency draws, issuing a total of 114,865 invitations across all streams, with 49,250 of those specifically for the CEC category.
