Canada issues travel advisories for winter destinations
The Government of Canada has updated its travel warnings for several popular winter destinations. Most locations, including Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, and Peru, are currently categorized under the level to “exercise a high degree of caution.”
Cuba remains under an advisory to “avoid non-essential travel” due to critical shortages of fuel, electricity, food, water, and medicine. Additionally, all Canadian airlines have suspended service to Cuba until further notice.
Recent updates also flag potential risks associated with El Niño, a climate pattern expected to strengthen through 2026 and 2027. This pattern may increase the likelihood of severe storms, floods, and droughts in various destinations.
