Canada-Jamaica Airlift Expansion Boosts Caribbean Tourism

Jamaica will receive roughly 400,000 additional airline seats from Canada in the 2026/27 winter season, driven by Air Canada, Sunwing, Porter Airlines, Flair, Transat, Caribbean Airlines and WestJet. The increase supports the Jamaica Tourist Board’s goal of 600,000 Canadian visitors and US$750 million in tourism earnings by 2030, with flights serving two of Jamaica’s three international airports and multiple Canadian gateways.

After a brief WestJet flight‑attendant strike that disrupted summer travel, the airline has resumed normal operations. At the same time, Caribbean Airlines has added daily nonstop service between Toronto and Georgetown, Guyana, reflecting rising demand from business travelers, tourists and the Guyanese‑Canadian community.
