Canada names Alphonse Davies in 2026 World Cup squad despite injury

Canada announced its 26‑man roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co‑hosted with the United States and Mexico. Bayern Munich forward Alphonse Davies was included after recovering from a hamstring tendon injury suffered in the Champions League semi‑final against Paris Saint‑Germain. Coach Jesse Mars said Davies was fit to join the squad in Edmonton and will travel with the team for the tournament running from June 11 to July 19.

The squad also features goalkeeper Maxime Crépe, Deen Sant Clear, and a mix of defenders, midfielders and attackers such as Jonathan David and Jonathan Davies. Canada will play its group matches in Toronto (against Bosnia/Herzegovina) and Vancouver (against Qatar and Switzerland). Pre‑tournament friendlies are scheduled against Uzbekistan on June 1 in Edmonton and Ireland on June 5 in Montreal.
