Kootenay River vehicle discovery linked to 2004 disappearance

A vehicle containing human remains has been recovered from the Kootenay River, potentially providing answers to a 22-year-old disappearance. A volunteer search and recovery dive team located the fully submerged vehicle on September 24 near the Old Ferry Landing.

Creston RCMP believe the vehicle is connected to George Franklin Davis, who went missing from the Creston area in July 2004. At the time of his disappearance, Davis was 40 years old and was last seen driving a brown 1981 Chrysler LeBaron. Investigators noted that the vehicle's description and license plate are consistent with records associated with Davis.

While the identity of the deceased has not been formally confirmed, authorities are awaiting forensic analysis and confirmation from the BC Coroners Service. Based on evidence gathered to date, police stated that the death is not believed to be suspicious and no foul play is suspected.
