Canada Post issues new stamps featuring Canadian wolves

Canada Post has released a new series of postage stamps highlighting the ecological importance of wolves in Canada. The collection features four distinct types of wolves: the grey wolf, the eastern wolf, the Arctic grey wolf, and the coastal grey wolf.

According to Canada Post, wolves serve as a keystone species that contributes significantly to the health and biodiversity of ecosystems. The stamps utilize close-up photography to showcase these animals, which are central to many Indigenous cultures and remote Canadian landscapes.

The series includes the eastern wolf, a species at risk with an estimated population of 200 to 1,000 mature individuals found primarily in central Ontario and southwestern Quebec. The release also features the Arctic grey wolf, the coastal grey wolf from the Pacific coast, and the widespread grey wolf. The stamp issue includes domestic stamps, a souvenir sheet, and collectible first-day covers.
