Canada promotes disability employment through regional initiatives
Canada is observing initiatives to promote disability employment awareness. In British Columbia, September is designated as Disability Employment Month to recognize the contributions of people with disabilities to the workforce and to encourage inclusive hiring practices and barrier-free workplaces.
In Alberta, an innovative Reverse Job Fair is scheduled for October 16, 2026, at Kingsway Mall. Hosted by EmployAbilities and the Voice of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD Society), the event places job seekers at the center, allowing them to host tables to showcase their skills while employers rotate through the venue. The fair includes industry-specific networking sessions for retail, trades, and professional careers, alongside a community resource fair featuring employment services and government supports.
