Canada raises Old Age Security benefits for July 2026 payments

Canada’s Old Age Security (OAS) program increased payments by 1.2% for the July‑September 2026 quarter, the largest quarterly rise since October 2024. Direct‑deposit recipients will see the higher amounts land in their bank accounts on July 29, 2026; those who receive cheques will wait for mail delivery. Seniors aged 65‑74 can receive up to C$751.97 per month (an increase of C$8.92), while those 75 and older can receive up to C$827.17 (up C$9.81). The increase applies to individuals with annual net incomes below the relevant thresholds (C$152,062 for ages 65‑74 and C$157,923 for 75+).

The adjustment reflects Canada’s Consumer Price Index and is made each quarter to keep benefits in line with inflation. The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) will also be paid this month, but its amount remains unchanged until its annual January inflation adjustment. In addition, related senior‑benefit programs such as the Guaranteed Income Supplement, spouse and survivor allowances were also raised in line with inflation.
