Canada reports rising happiness levels alongside declining employee health

Recent polling indicates a complex landscape for well-being in Canada. A Leger poll suggests that overall happiness levels among Canadians have increased, with many reporting scores above seven out of ten. This shift indicates a move toward pre-pandemic norms, with Quebec identified as the happiest province and Montreal, Brampton, and Toronto among the happiest cities. However, financial pressure remains the primary barrier to happiness for 57 per cent of respondents.

In contrast, a separate survey conducted by Leger and Dialogue Health Technologies Inc. highlights declining health metrics within the workforce. Approximately 35 per cent of Canadian employees reported a worsening of their mental health, an increase from 30 per cent the previous year. Additionally, 30 per cent of employees noted a decline in physical health, while 38 per cent reported poorer sleep quality and 35 per cent cited declining financial health.
