Canada Summer Jobs program opens for 2027 applications

The Canada Summer Jobs program is now accepting applications from employers for the 2027 summer season. The initiative aims to provide meaningful work experience for youth aged 15 to 30 while offering financial assistance to local organizations and businesses.

Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, public sector employers, and private sector businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees. Non-profits may receive up to 100 percent of the minimum wage plus mandatory employer costs, while smaller private businesses can receive up to 50 percent of the minimum wage.

To qualify, jobs must be full-time, lasting between 6 and 16 weeks, and occur between April 19 and August 28, 2027. A new requirement specifies that organizations must have been active for at least two years by December 31, 2026, though exemptions may apply for previous program participants.

Priority will be given to roles in construction, environmental and climate-related activities, digital skills development, and non-profits supporting underserved communities. The application deadline is December 3, 2026.
