Canada to debut at Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Bulgaria

The Canadian public broadcaster CBC/Radio‑Canada and the European Broadcasting Union have confirmed that Canada will take part in the 71st Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled for 2027 in Bulgaria. Canada becomes the first new participant since Australia joined the competition in 2015. CBC/Radio‑Canada President and CEO Marie‑Philippe Bouchard said the debut will give Canadian artists a platform on one of the world’s most‑watched music stages and allow Canadian audiences to vote and follow the event more directly. The broadcaster, a full EBU member after recent membership approval, will select its entrant through national pre‑selection shows later this year. Canada has a long history with Eurovision, including past performances by Céline Dion, and the 2027 contest is expected to attract hundreds of millions of viewers across Europe and beyond.
