Canada to open 2027 world junior hockey championship in Edmonton
Hockey Canada and the International Ice Hockey Federation have announced the schedule for the 2027 world junior hockey championship. The tournament will take place from December 26, 2026, to January 5, 2027, in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
Canada is set to open the tournament against Switzerland on December 26 at Edmonton's Rogers Place. Following this, Canada will compete in Group B against Latvia on December 28, Norway on December 29, and Czechia on December 31.
Group A includes defending champion Sweden, along with Finland, Germany, Slovakia, and the United States. The tournament schedule includes relegation and quarterfinal games on January 2, with the semifinals and medal games held at Rogers Place on January 4 and 5.
