Canada wins gold at FISU World University Rugby Sevens

Canada secured the gold medal at the FISU World University Championship Rugby Sevens in Stellenbosch, South Africa, after defeating France with a score of 20-0 in the final.

Ava Van Santen, a 22-year-old wing for Trinity Western University, played a pivotal role in the victory by scoring four tries during the gold-medal match. Van Santen was one of 12 athletes selected to represent Canada in the tournament.

The championship featured 14-minute games, requiring the Canadian team to compete twice daily during the opening two days before advancing to the semifinals and the final.
