Canada Women's National Team announces October squad and Champions League updates

Canada's women's national team is entering a period of transition and international competition. Head coach Casey Stoney has announced her 24-player squad for the upcoming October friendlies against Denmark, which will be held in Montreal and Toronto.

Among the call-ups is 18-year-old AFC Toronto forward Kaylee Hunter, who earned her spot following a standout performance at the U20 Women's World Cup. Hunter is one of six talents from the Northern Super League included in the senior roster, alongside players such as Shelina Zadorsky and Sabrina D'Angelo.

Simultaneously, the UEFA Women's Champions League is beginning its new season, featuring 11 Canadian internationals. Notable players include Olivia Smith of Arsenal, Jade Rose of Manchester City, and Vanessa Gilles of Bayern Munich. These athletes are competing on the European stage as they prepare for the Women's World Cup in Brazil next summer.
