Canada women's rugby team secures consecutive wins over England

The Canadian women's national rugby team has achieved two consecutive victories against England. Following a recent match in Toronto, which saw record attendance for an independent women's match in North America, Canada secured a 31-22 win in Ottawa.

In conjunction with these athletic successes, the Canadian government announced a significant increase in funding for Rugby Canada. Through Sport Canada's Sport Support Program, an additional $2,815,000 in federal funding has been allocated. This brings the total funding for Rugby Canada for the 2026-2027 season to $4,975,000.

Adam van Koeverden, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Sport, announced the investment during the match in Ottawa, noting that the funds are intended to support athletes, coaches, and programs to foster the growth of rugby across the country.
