Canada women's volleyball qualifies for Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

The Canadian women's national volleyball team has qualified for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games after defeating the Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 25-14) in the NORCECA Continental Olympic Qualifier.

This victory marks Canada's fourth Olympic appearance in the sport and ends a multi-decade absence from the Games. Key performers for Canada included Kiera Van Ryk and Alexa Gray, who both contributed 22 points to the win. The team, coached by Giovanni Guidetti, follows a successful period that included winning the NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship.

The Dominican Republic was led by Brayelin Martínez with 19 points and Yonkaira Peña with 13 points, but they were unable to overcome the Canadian attack. The qualification process for the 2028 cycle has shifted toward continental tournaments, the 2027 World Championship, and the FIVB World Ranking.
