Corie Walsh charged with murder in death of 2-year-old son
Corie Walsh, 40, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder following the death of her 2-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, in Frankfort, Illinois. According to authorities, the child was found unresponsive in the family basement on September 1. A preliminary autopsy by the Will County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death was asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck.
Prosecutors allege that Walsh had been closely following the high-profile Lindsay Clancy murder trial, discussing it with friends just hours before her son was found. Court documents state that Walsh allegedly told police she killed her son because she believed he was the ‘devil’ and the ‘anti-Christ.’
Walsh was discovered by a neighbor in an upstairs bathtub with self-inflicted injuries. Her attorney, Andrea Lyon, has stated that Walsh was experiencing a “psychotic” episode at the time of the incident and has rejected any suggestion that her interest in the Clancy case was linked to the death of her son.
