Canada's Mountain Institution contraband seizure totals $180,000

Correctional Service Canada reported that a four‑day lockdown and search of the medium‑security Mountain Institution near Agassiz uncovered contraband and unauthorized items valued at about $180,330. seized items included THC concentrate, methamphetamine, steroids, tobacco, charging cables, cell phones and homemade weapons. This was the second exceptional search of the prison within as many weeks.

CSC said it is strengthening security by using ion scanners, drug‑detector dogs and a toll‑free tip line (1‑866‑780‑3784) for information on drug use or trafficking that could threaten inmates, staff or visitors.
