Canadian Armed Forces tests domestic drone technology

The Canadian Armed Forces is conducting the RED COBALT Uncrewed Systems Accelerator, an event designed to test Canadian-made drone platforms in real-world scenarios. Held at a NATO test centre in the Ottawa Valley, the initiative aims to facilitate rapid technological adoption by bringing military operators and industry experts into direct contact.

Lieutenant-General Darcy Molstad, commander of the Canadian Joint Forces Command, stated that the event demonstrates how the military must collaborate with industry to innovate swiftly. The federal government is prioritizing the acquisition of diverse uncrewed platforms, including low-cost drones similar to those utilized in the conflict in Ukraine, to address the evolving requirements of modern warfare.
