Canadian athletes qualify for international championships

Two athletes from Nanaimo’s Dynasty Baton and Performance Sport Club, Aurora King and Solaya Liske, have qualified for the World Baton Twirling Championships in Italy following their performance at the Canadian National Baton Twirling championships in Oshawa. King secured titles in the novice pre-teen division for solo and strut, earned silver in 2 Baton, and won the Rugby Cup. She was also crowned Miss Majorette of Canada in her division. Liske placed third in the national solo and 2 Baton categories and third in the Rugby Cup.

In rowing, Rowing Canada Aviron has announced the Canadian team for the 2026 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam. The men’s team includes Axel Ewashko, a Brentwood College graduate. Additionally, Gabe Dyer has been named to the Canadian team for the 2026 World University Championships in London, Ontario.

In field hockey, Natalie Ellingson competed with Team BC White at the U18 Canadian Field Hockey Championships in Surrey, where the team finished fifth overall.
