Canadian community walks scheduled to support cancer research and care
Various community fundraising events are scheduled for October 4, 2026, to support cancer research and medical care in Canada.
In Thunder Bay, the Canadian Cancer Society will host the 30th annual CIBC Run for the Cure at the Royal Canadian Legion Track. The event features one-kilometre and five-kilometre routes for walking and running. The program includes a Parade of Hope to recognize breast cancer survivors and those currently facing the disease.
In the Yamaska Valley, the Optimist Club is organizing its 25th Walk to Fight All Cancers at the Lac-Brome Community Centre. Supporting the BMP Foundation, this year's initiative aims to fund specialized medical equipment for operating rooms, emergency departments, and outpatient surgical clinics. This follows previous successful campaigns, such as the acquisition of a mammography unit for the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital.
