Canadian Consul visits Monterrey’s Ciudad de la Inclusión
Annabelle Larouche, the Canadian Consul in Monterrey, visited the renovated Ciudad de la Inclusión (City of Inclusion) managed by DIF Monterrey. During the visit, she was accompanied by Monterrey Mayor Adrián de la Garza and DIF Monterrey President Gaby Oyervides.
The facility features the System for the Development of Autonomy and Independent Living, described as a unique model in Mexico designed to support individuals with temporary or permanent disabilities. The program focuses on fostering autonomy and providing specialized tools for both the individuals and their families.
Larouche toured various specialized areas, including an inclusive kitchen, an aquatic dome, art therapy spaces, a sensory stimulation chamber, an inclusive nursery, and a neuromotor gym. The facility underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation process to transform it into an accessible and dignified space for specialized care.
