Canadian Copper expands New Brunswick mine, creates 115 permanent jobs

Canadian Copper Inc. has acquired the defunct Caribou Mine site in New Brunswick through the receivership of former owner Trevali Mining Ltd. The company plans to process copper, zinc and other minerals from its nearby Murray Brook open‑pit mine at the Caribou mill, outlining a 14‑year mine life in a 387‑page environmental impact assessment.

The province says the project will generate about 230 construction jobs beginning in 2027, followed by 115 permanent positions once operations start. New Brunswick Natural Resources Minister John Herron called the acquisition a sign that the province’s mineral sector is reviving.
