Canadian Football League honors National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The Canadian Football League (CFL) has announced a series of initiatives to honor the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. In collaboration with its nine member clubs and local Indigenous communities, the league will host various game day commemorations and educational events to promote awareness and action.

A central part of the commemoration is a redesigned CFL/LCF logo. Created in consultation with National Chief Woodhouse Nepinak and artists from the communications firm ChangeMakers, the logo features ‘Turtle Island’ in the Eastern Woodlands Indigenous Art style. The design incorporates elements from different regions of Canada and includes a warm yellow color to reference the Indigenous medicine wheel, alongside a four-quadrant ring representing the four directions and stages of life.

Additionally, the league will feature orange and white pregame jerseys during upcoming games. Some teams plan to auction these jerseys to benefit local Indigenous communities. The CFL has also partnered with Wilson to produce customized footballs featuring orange laces and branding.
