Alamos Gold and Q‑Gold Provide Updates on Canadian Mining Operations
Alamos Gold Inc. reported operational challenges at its Young‑Davidson mine in Ontario. Two seismic events and a storm‑related power outage caused infrastructure damage and three days of downtime, leading the company to lower its second‑quarter gold production guidance to 130,000‑135,000 ounces and anticipate higher costs. The firm plans to optimize the mining sequence and add ground‑support measures to improve rates for the remainder of the year, while its Island Gold District operation continues to record underground mining rates above 1,500 tonnes per day, targeting 2,000 tpd by the end of 2026.
Q‑Gold Resources Ltd. announced the start of its summer 2026 exploration campaign at the Mine Centre project in Ontario. The program will map auriferous veins north and south of the Foley Mine, conduct systematic channel sampling and targeted diamond drilling to expand the pipeline of drill‑ready targets. A field‑mapping visit by COO Dr. Andreas Rompel and the exploration team confirmed priority areas, with the aim of significantly increasing the number of examined veins beyond the five currently studied.
