Canadian North flight attendants file notice of dispute
Flight attendants at Canadian North, represented by CUPE 8111, have filed a Notice of Dispute under the Canada Labour Code following stalled contract negotiations. The union, which represents nearly 200 workers, has been in bargaining with the airline since March.
Key unresolved issues include wages, unpaid work, working conditions, and scheduling. CUPE 8111 President Isabelle Paquette stated that wages have not kept pace with the cost of living and emphasized that flight attendants are essential for connecting northern communities to healthcare, education, and employment.
The filing initiates a federal conciliation process. Canadian North communications manager Hance Colburne stated the company is committed to respectful, good-faith collective bargaining and aims to reach an agreement that supports both employee needs and the airline’s long-term sustainability. The airline noted there has been no impact on current operations.
