Canadian police arrest drivers for impaired operation in Ontario and Newfoundland

St. Thomas Police Service reported that a 34‑year‑old man was arrested after a traffic stop on Wellington and Talbot Streets late on August 5, 2026. The driver showed obvious signs of impairment and recorded a blood‑alcohol concentration of 145 mg per 100 ml. He was charged with operating while impaired and released on an appearance notice.

Glovertown RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador arrested two 38‑year‑old men after a call about a suspected impaired driver near David Smallwood Park in Gambo on July 31, 2026. The driver fled the scene, was later located, and was charged with impaired operation, dangerous driving, possession of a controlled substance and flight from police. The passenger was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and flight from police. Both men were released with conditions pending a court appearance in December 2026.
