Canadian Prime Minister Carney to work reduced hours
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will work reduced hours for one week starting Monday due to previously scheduled commitments in Italy. His office stated that Carney will remain in close contact with his team to manage government priorities, including trade negotiations with the United States. The ethics commissioner has reportedly not identified any concerns regarding this schedule change.
Separately, Liberal MP Shaun Chen has announced his intention to resign from his Scarborough North seat at the end of this week. Chen cited injuries sustained in a car accident in late 2025, which have hindered his ability to travel to Ottawa as frequently as required. Prime Minister Carney issued a statement thanking Chen for his work regarding youth advocacy and anti-racism efforts.
