Canadian provinces pitch mining projects at investment summit
During the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto, Canadian regional leaders presented ambitious plans to expand their respective mining and natural resource sectors to attract global capital.
Yukon Premier Currie Dixon highlighted five major mining projects—Kudz Ze Kayah, Mactung, Minto Mine, Casino, and Coffee Gold—noting their readiness for investment and focus on critical minerals. Dixon observed an unprecedented consensus among political and industry leaders regarding the necessity of developing natural resources to drive the economy.
In Manitoba, Premier Wab Kinew announced a goal to triple the province’s mineral production over the next five years. The strategy includes streamlining environmental licensing and mineral exploration, alongside the expansion of the Port of Churchill to increase shipments to markets in Europe and South America. While no concrete investment deals were finalized at the summit, officials identified significant potential for growth in potash and LNG exports.
