Canadian public libraries launch summer reading programs

The Shelburne Public Library announced a series of community events, including a Summer Reading Club Kick‑off Party on July 3, a Grand Opening of Fiddle Park on July 12, and an "Authors in the Hills of Mulmur" gathering on August 23 to celebrate the town’s 175th anniversary. The library also highlighted a weekly reading recommendation and noted that ticket sales for the author event will support renovation of the local Honeywood Arena.

The Trail & District Public Library in British Columbia opened registrations for its annual BC Summer Reading Club, running from June 29 to August 14 with an "Under the Sea" theme. The free seven‑week program offers activities in English, French and Spanish for children aged three to twelve, a kickoff celebration on June 28, and special events such as the Rhythm by Nature drumming experience on July 22. Library summer students Ava Schleppe and Abi Romano will help run the program, aiming to foster literacy, new friendships and creative learning among participants.
