Canadian sailor Isa Rosli to compete in the 2026 Golden Globe Race
Isa Rosli, an Abbotsford, British Columbia resident, is preparing to start the 2026 Golden Globe Race in September. The race is a 30,000‑mile solo, nonstop circumnavigation that follows the 1968 rules – competitors must navigate without GPS, satellite phones or any modern electronic aids, relying on sextants, wind‑vanes and other vintage equipment.
Rosli is the sole Canadian on the roster and, if he finishes, could become the first Canadian to successfully complete the event. He will sail a refurbished 1970s‑era yacht named Olleanna, which previously competed in the 2018 and 2022 editions and was acquired from former racer Jeremy Bagshaw. In addition to the boat, Rosli is stockpiling months’ worth of non‑perishable food for the nine‑month journey that begins on the west coast of France and routes around Africa, Tasmania and South America before returning to France.
