Victoria Mboko pulls out of Wimbledon after knee injury

Victoria Mboko, the 19‑year‑old Canadian ranked No. 9 in the world, withdrew from Wimbledon after sustaining a left‑knee medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury at the Queen’s Club. The injury occurred during her singles match against Karolina Pliskova, forcing her to retire and forfeit the remainder of the grass‑court season. Mboko had been playing doubles with Serena Williams, and the pair won their opening match at Queen’s, marking Williams’s first competitive appearance in four years. Following the injury, Williams posted a supportive comment on Mboko’s Instagram, saying “My heart. My diamond. You will be even more amazing when you’re back.” Numerous athletes, including Lindsey Vonn and Sloane Stephens, also sent well‑wishes.
