CANAL+ and LALIGA partner to combat sports content piracy

CANAL+ and LALIGA have entered into a strategic partnership to combat the illegal distribution of sports content, specifically targeting pirate IPTV networks. The agreement aims to protect the sports ecosystem and its financing models by combining the technological expertise and operational capabilities of both organizations.

The collaboration will involve sharing intelligence and coordinating actions across approximately 50 countries spanning Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Haiti. By working together, the entities intend to detect and dismantle the structures supporting illegal streaming services, rather than merely blocking individual domains.

LALIGA President Javier Tebas noted that piracy is a major challenge for professional sports that requires collective action. CANAL+ CEO Maxime Saada emphasized that the partnership reflects the strategic importance of fighting piracy, which undermines the entire sports industry.
