Canara Bank ends Canara Suraksha 2.0 hackathon in Bengaluru
Canara Bank concluded its Canara Suraksha 2.0 cyber‑hackathon, a nationwide competition aimed at strengthening banking‑sector security, with a valedictory ceremony at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. The event, launched in May 2026, attracted 1,560 student teams from engineering colleges across India. After an idea‑phase screening, 130 teams advanced to a month‑long demo phase, after which nine finalists were chosen and five teams presented their prototypes at the closing ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Shri A. K. Goel, Chief Executive of the Indian Banks’ Association, and Smt. Sailaja Rani, General Manager of the Reserve Bank of India. It was presided over by Shri Brajesh Kumar Singh, MD & CEO of Canara Bank, with industry CISOs from Deloitte, KPMG, EY, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, HP and OpenText serving as judges. Solutions were evaluated on innovation, technical depth, scalability and practical applicability to real‑world banking security challenges.
