Canarana faces audit over R$ 9.5 million pension debt
The municipality of Canarana, located in Mato Grosso, has accumulated over R$ 9.5 million in debts to its local social security regime. Following reports of delayed transfers to the Municipal Social Security Fund for Civil Servants (Prevican), the State Court of Accounts of Mato Grosso (TCE-MT) has ordered a Special Account Audit.
The audit aims to investigate potential losses to pension assets, identify responsible parties, and determine if reimbursement is necessary. The identified debts include employer contributions, amounts deducted from employees, complementary contributions, and administration fees that were not collected within the required deadlines.
Mayor Vilson Biguelini acknowledged the delays, attributing the situation to the municipal administration's financial difficulties. He stated that there are no signs of fraud and noted that the municipality's Certificate of Social Security Regularity (CRP) was issued in March 2026, despite the outstanding debts.
