Canary Islands and Argentina See May CPI Increases

In May, the Canary Islands’ consumer price index rose 3.2% year‑on‑year, matching Spain’s national rate. The jump was driven chiefly by transport costs, which climbed 9.6% YoY, while restaurant and accommodation services rose 5.4%.

Argentina’s statistics agency (INDEC) reported its CPI up 2.1% in May, bringing the annual increase to 14.7%. Prices for hygiene goods rose in line with the overall index, and shampoo prices surged 5.7%. The health‑care workers’ federation warned of an “alert” after employer groups failed to submit a wage‑adjustment proposal during collective‑bargaining talks.
