Canary Islands and Morocco air traffic controllers coordinate urgent organ transport flight
Air traffic controllers in the Canary Islands and Morocco coordinated to facilitate the urgent transport of a human organ for transplant. The operation involved a Vueling commercial flight, an Airbus A320-232, traveling from Tenerife North Airport to Seville.
To ensure the viability of the tissue, the Enaire control center in the Canary Islands worked closely with Moroccan air traffic services to provide the aircraft with the most direct possible route across the Atlantic corridor. The flight maintained a cruising altitude of 36,000 feet, avoiding unnecessary delays to ensure the medical team could proceed with the transplant as quickly as possible.
