Canary Islands announces major healthcare and education openings
The Canary Islands government has announced significant employment and training opportunities across the archipelago in the education and healthcare sectors.
In education, the Ministry of Education has opened an extraordinary call for six teaching positions in the province of Las Palmas. These temporary roles are distributed across Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura, covering specialties such as Music, Early Childhood Education, Audition and Language, and Therapeutic Pedagogy. The application period is open until August 27, 2026, for candidates already on the official teaching employment lists.
In healthcare, the Canary Islands Health Service has launched its largest training offer to date, providing 492 positions for the 2026-2027 period. This represents a 5.81% increase over the previous year. The allocation includes 360 spots for medical residents (MIR) and 102 for nursing, with additional roles in pharmacy, psychology, and biology. The initiative focuses on strengthening primary care, mental health, and emergency services, particularly in non-capital islands like Lanzarote.
